The Moonlight Tour is a special canoe ride on the Hocking River. You are put on the water as the sun sets. Then you paddle your way back to the livery as darkness descends, using only the light of the moon as it reflects off the water. A staff member from Hocking Hills Canoe Livery follows behind the last member of the group.

Getting help at the landing.
Near the end the lanterns at the landing beckon, and a dock helper will guide your vessel ashore.

Making the trek up the hill by torch light.
A short walk uphill by torch light takes you back to the canoe livery building.

Listening to some great bluegrass.
A bluegrass band provides some lively entertainment.

Around the camp fire.
You might choose to warm up beside the roaring bonfire...

Roasting a marshmallow.
...and roast a marshmallow or two. 

S'mores stuff.
Did someone say s'mores?

  • Reservations are highly recommended for the Moonlight Tour.
  • Space is limited and tends to fill the last two weeks before the event.
  • You must be at least 8 years of age to participate.
  • All children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Paddling by moonlight.

Stoking the fire.

  • All participants are required to have one flashlight per canoe. Flashlights are available in the canoe livery store, if you forget yours.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather. 
  • Marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate are provided at the bonfire, if you wish additional refreshments, feel free to bring some along to enjoy at the bonfire.
