Open all Year!

July, 2008. Logan, OH.

Hocking Hills Canoe Livery hosts a year long river clean up.

In addition to several planned group river clean ups on the Hocking River, Hocking Hills Canoe Livery also offers a two dollar refund to any paddler who bring back a bag of trash.

Scout groups, church groups and clubs collaborate with Hocking Hills Canoe Livery throughout the year to keep the river clean through a series of river clean up outings.

The Ohio State University Forestry Forum has an annual Earth Day event to canoe the Hocking River and pick up trash. Each year a trailer load of trash is collected .

Members of the Hocking College Wildlife Club have an annual outing in the first week of May to clean up trash on the Hocking River. Students take canoes from Rockbridge to Logan, stopping to pick up trash along the way. Trash finds have included tires, coolers and even a child’s tug boat.

Some paddlers really get into the spirit of river conservation by going above and beyond in their trash pick up quest. Unusual items brought back include a culvert, a stove, and a glider brought back balanced between two canoes.

Over the years paddlers have brought back tons of trash and hundreds of tires. Now if only we could find a way to keep it from the river in the first place.

Wanted: Good Home for Used Boats
July, 2008. Logan, OH. After a long hard summer all of the canoes and kayaks from Hocking Hills Canoe Livery are looking for a simpler life with a new caring owner.

New owners must be willing to take their new boat on rivers and lakes and have fun with it.

Every boat in the fleet is available for sale starting after Labor Day on September 1st. A waiting list is compiled throughout the year, and on the Tuesday after Labor Day each person is called in the order they were put on the list. Each boat is available on a first come first served basis.
